A plasma display device and a driving method thereof are provided to improve the contrast characteristic and to restrict the reduction of a driving margin by increasing the magnitude of reset pulse in a low gray scale sub field forming low gray scales in one frame and decreasing the magnitude of reset pulse in a high gray scale sub field. A plasma display device includes a plasma display panel(700) having scan and sustain electrodes(Y1~Yn,Z) and plural address electrodes(X1~Xm) crossing the scan and sustain electrodes; driving units(722,723,724) for driving the electrodes; and a reset pulse control unit(721) for regulating the magnitude of reset pulse applied to the scan electrode during a reset period of at least one of the sub fields in one frame by controlling the driving unit.
