A coated article is provided by a thermal spraying process, wherein a feedstock including an oxide ceramic and a non-oxide ceramic is deposited on a target surface of the article to provide a wear-resistant coating. The feedstock is provided b y mixing carbide and/or boride ceramic powder with an oxide ceramic powder prior to thermal spraying.
