A rubbing roller and an apparatus for inspecting a rubbing cloth are provided to reduce the defect of an LCD panel due to defects of the rubbing roller or the rubbing cloth, by automatically detecting the deformation of the rubbing roller and the distortion of the rubbing cloth. A back and forth transfer unit(21) moves in back and forth directions along back and forth transfer rollers, which are installed at both ends of a support plate. A left and right transfer unit(22) is installed on left and right transfer rollers, which are installed at a support plate. A detection unit(10) detects the condition of a rubbing cloth or a rubbing roller(100) by photographing a surface of the rubbing cloth or the rubbing roller at high speed while moving in back, forth, left, and right directions. A computation and control unit(40) analyzes the photographed image of the rubbing cloth or the rubbing roller, and controls the driving of the transfer units. |
