FIELD: protection of tanks of tanker by shielding gas. ^ SUBSTANCE: plant for entrapping volatile organic compounds and protecting the tanks by shielding gas has first part which is in operation as a rule and is used for entrapping organic compounds and protecting the tanks by shielding gas and second part employing inert gas which is just gaseous combustion product from tanker boilers, turbines or engine; use may be also made of gas from inert gas generator; second part of plant is used as standby plant which is not in operation but for periods when tanks are freed from gas. First part of plant is based on use of hydrocarbon gas; it is provided with unit for entrapping the organic compounds and is connected with hydrocarbon storage; hydrocarbon storage is connected in its turn with hydrocarbon gas preparation unit; plant is also provided with devices for transfer of hydrocarbon gas among gas storage and ship's tanks on board the ship from and to external plant and control unit for proper operation of plant from the standpoint of pressure, volume, level, composition and flow rate through plant components. ^ EFFECT: minimization of evaporation of volatile organic compounds. ^ 8 cl, 1 dwg |
