The device has cameras (5, 7) and a light source (10) that is positioned on a central axis (4) of a ring (3) of a transparent or a translucent object (1), to radially illuminate the ring. Each camera permits to detect the defects present in the ring and comprises a visual axis inclined with respect to the central axis of the ring. The cameras are inclined at different angles to detect defects according to two different incidences.
