PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To radically take electric shock preventive measures to a light source device, and to suppression spurious radiation etc. SOLUTION: In the light source device 11 applying a conductive reflector 13, the grounded conductive reflector 13 and a cathode connection part of a discharge tube 14 are connected and an extended end of a trigger winding wire is connected with the conductive reflector 13 for connecting the trigger winding wire and the cathode connection part through the conductive reflector 13. In the ballast device 12, the inside is insulated and divided into a primary side circuit part 12a and a secondary side circuit part 12b and power is transmitted from the primary side circuit part 12a to the secondary side circuit part 12b by a transformer 23 in an insulated condition. For signal transmission between a secondary side ballast control part 22 and a primary side switching control part 20, the signal transmission is made possible in the insulated condition by providing a photo coupler 24.
