PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve smooth image reproduction by reproducing appropriate hue when halftone printing is performed using a dither pattern for a specific section of an original image. SOLUTION: An image processor has a brightness range setting means for setting a brightness range, a decision means for deciding whether or not brightness of each pixel belongs to the brightness range and a pixel value conversion means 103 for performing pixel value conversion processing for replacing pixel values only for pixels whose brightness is decided to belong to the brightness range. The pixel value conversion means 103 has a dither pattern setting means for setting the dither pattern and a pixel value replacement means for comparing pixel data of the pixels whose brightness is decided to belong to the brightness range with a threshold of the dither pattern and setting an output pixel value depending on the comparison result.
