PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a semiconductor laser element in which the lifetime of element is prolonged and reliability is enhanced. SOLUTION: In the semiconductor laser element comprising an active layer, a plurality of conductive clad layers sandwiching the active layer, and a current block layer having an opening above a predetermined stripe region of the active layer formed on a conductive semiconductor substrate, the opening has a width of 10-30μm and the transverse mode is multi-mode oscillation.
