PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a rubber composition for pneumatic tires having a high modulus and low heat build-up while maintaining processability. SOLUTION: The rubber composition for pneumatic tires comprises 100 pts.wt. at least one rubber component selected from the group consisting of a natural rubber (NR), a polyisoprene rubber (IR), a polybutadiene rubber (BR), a styrene-butadiene copolymer rubber (SBR), a butyl rubber (IIR), and a butadiene-acrylonitrile copolymer rubber (NBR) and 9-40 pts.wt. cellulose powder having a particle diameter of 70-200μm.
