PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a container terminal capable of efficiently performing the loading work with a small number of loading machine for loading containers in a container terminal to solve the problem wherein the number of loading machines corresponding to the peak of the loading work in a place in charge is useless except the peak. SOLUTION: A yard crane 8 for loading the container 5 between a housing position and an in-yard chassis 7a in a housing area 6a of a container yard 6 and a delivery crane 23 for transferring the container 5 between the in-yard chassis 7a and a visitor chassis 7b in a delivery area 6b are structured to be used commonly. When the loading work in the delivery area 6b is busy, the yard crane 8 is provided to work in the delivery area 6b, and when the loading work in the delivery area 6b is not busy, the delivery crane 23 is provided for the work in the housing area 6a.
