PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform welding with a stable arc and excellent quality for either of short circuiting arc welding and pulsed arc welding. SOLUTION: A power unit is provided with: a first main circuit 20 which comprises an inverter circuit 21 for converting an input DC voltage to an AC voltage, a main transformer 22, a rectifier circuit on the output side, and a DC reactor 25; a second main circuit 30 which comprises an inverter circuit 31, a main transformer 32, a current limiting means connected serially to the output side of the main transformer 32 to limit the output current, a rectifier circuit on the output side, and a DC reactor 35; and a driving circuit 26, 36 control means which turns on/off the inverter circuits 21, 31. The output voltage of the main transformer 22 is set lower than that of the main transformer 32; the reactance of the DC reactor 25 is set roughly 1/5-1/30 of that of the DC reactor 35; and the first and second main circuits 20, 30 are connected parallel to a welding load.
