The vane pump has an eccentric cam (5) fixed to a carrier journal (4) of the drive shaft (3). The eccentric cam contains a pump inlet and a suction control slot. There is an inner ring (9) on the outer surface (8) of the eccentric cam. This has projections (10) containing connecting rod small-ends (11) at uniform spacing round it.
