<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus and method capable of efficiently carrying out a job of zooming in an image of a region of interest of each page in a multi-page document up to a desired resolution and displaying the zoomed-in image. <P>SOLUTION: The image processing apparatus allows a page after movement to inherit settings of a region of interest offset position 24 and a size 25 of a region of interest with respect to a page before the movement. That is, at the movement of page, the offset position and the size associated with the region of interest the same as those of the preceding page are set to the page after the movement, and a region of interest extension means 16 extends the image and an image display means 21 displays the extended image on its screen. The setting of inherit/non-inherit switch 27 can also permit the inheritance/non-inheritance above. Since the region of interest extension means 16 decodes coded data associated with the region of interest only and extends the image, the means 16 can carry out the extension processing at a very high speed more than the case with processing the whole image. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
