PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a diversity receiver which simplifies a configuration, improves multi-path noise elimination performance and is capable of instantaneously selecting an antenna in a good receiving state. SOLUTION: A reception signal from an antenna is input through an antenna switching circuit 1, a front end 2 and an A/D conversion circuit 3 to an intermediate frequency amplifier circuit 4, and an S meter signal from an S meter circuit 5 is input through a noise detection filter 6 and an absolute value circuit 7 to a control section 8. The control section 8 then compares a noise component (MP amount) from the absolute value circuit 7 with a threshold Vth from a threshold setting section 9 and if the noise component is greater than the threshold Vth, an antenna selection control signal is output to the antenna switching circuit 1 to switch the antenna. Then, the control section 8 sets the threshold Vth of the threshold setting section 9 to the MP amount before antenna switching, so that frequent antenna switching can be prevented and an antenna in a good receiving state can be instantaneously selected.
