PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a image generating device for a vehicle and a method in which image quality of an output image is improved and an image easy to comprehend for a driver can be presented. SOLUTION: The image generating device for the vehicle includes a camera 1 of which an image output range can be changed by operation from the outside, an image processing device 2 which operates the camera 1 and processes an image acquired from the camera 1, and an image display device 3 which displays the image processed by the image processing device 2, and the range of image outputting from the camera 1 is changed in accordance with a signal from the image processing device 2.
