PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To materialize a phase synthesis diversity receiver capable of performing stable control even though phase discontinuity occurs in change-over of control voltage caused by a change in temperature or the like. SOLUTION: A phase control method is disclosed for controlling a phase shifter using a voltage controlled phase shifter to perform continuous phase control of 360°, the phase control method is characterized in that a phase control range of the voltage controlled phase shifter is set to a prescribed range that exceeds 360°and when the control voltage of the power controlled phase shifter is discontinuously changed over, control is performed so as to have a hysteresis characteristic by making the change-over point of the control voltage in the case of increasing phase and the change-over point of the control voltage in the case of decreasing phase different.
