PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cold cathode electrode body structure with proper discharge efficiency for improving emission efficiency of a fluorescent lamp in connection with improvement in the cold cathode body structure of backlight and improving the service life of the fluorescent lamp. SOLUTION: In a cathode lamp for a color liquid crystal panel, voltage is applied to both tip parts of a core electrode coaxially, arranged with a circular electrode so that an electron density is doubled by circular electrode discharge and circular surface discharge with a semicircle curvature, and sealed-in tube water activated gas collides with mercury atoms and excite them. A phosphor is excited with a UV light (visible-light wavelength 253.7nm), converted into a visible light region of the luminescent colors (red, green, blue) for emitting light. In the cold cathode fluorescent lamp, having the cold cathode electrode and the core electrode, doubled electron density with both the electrodes is obtained for improving the light emission efficiency.
