PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure seizure resistance of a sliding part such as a bearing even if engine lubricating oil is diluted by post injection or the like. SOLUTION: Quantity of lubricating oil in an oil pan of an engine is detected by an upper level sensor or the like. When lubricating oil quantity exceeds a predetermined value (step ST1), namely, when lubricating oil is diluted by fuel to get under a condition where lubrication of the sliding part such as the bearing becomes insufficient, the engine is controlled to reduce output, in an embodiment control (step ST3) reducing maximum combustion pressure is executed. Consequently, combustion load acting on the sliding part such as the bearing is limited at a time of maximum combustion pressure, seizure of a connecting rod bearing or the like is prevented.
