PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and a method for removing curbstone blocks without leaving mortar containers behind and without having to use a large-scale apparatus. SOLUTION: The apparatus for removing curbstone blocks comprises: both a jack 1 having a wedge-like tip part 13; and a casing 2 to be installed in such a way as to surround the jack and to be extended over both road surfaces between a curbstone block B to be removed. The casing is provided with: a jack housing part 26 for housing the jack; a jack supporting surface constituted of its one face 21; and fastening parts 31 and 41 provided for the vicinity of the opposite face 22. The fastening parts are constituted of part of end edges of notches 3 and 4. In the method for removing curbstone blocks, the casing is installed in such a way as to be extended overt both sides of the curbstone block, and the fastening parts are brought into contact with the lower edge of the curbstone block. The jack is laterally arranged in the jack housing part, with the wedge-like tip part oriented to the curbstone block. The wedge-like tip part is made to enter the lower end of the curbstone block.
