A receiving apparatus receives a control channel, a pilot channel and a data channel via an uplink. This apparatus comprises a means for receiving the pilot channel by use of the antenna gain pattern of a multi-beam comprising a plurality of fixed directivity beams each having a different fixed directivity or by use of the antenna gain pattern of a variable directivity beam having a directivity varying with the position of a mobile terminal; and a means for receiving the data channel by use of the antenna gain pattern of the multi-beam or variable directivity beam.
