<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an obstacle detecting device for detecting an obstacle existing on a road such as a preceding vehicle, a parking car or a pedestrian by discriminating from such an object as a texture which is a white line or sign on a road or a guard rail at a road side which does not obstruct traveling by using a camera loaded on a vehicle in a technology for achieving the safe driving support or automatic traveling of an automobile. <P>SOLUTION: This obstacle detecting device 10 is provided with an image input part 11 for inputting and storing an image from a plurality of imaging apparatuses, a feature calculating part 12 for calculating predetermined arbitrary image featured values from the stored image, a feature comparing part 13 for comparing the featured values of an image from a plurality of imaging apparatuses and a result determination means 14 for determining the presence of an obstacle from a comparison result obtained by the featured comparing part 13. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
