PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber which facilitates optical axis adjustment of an optical module.

SOLUTION: The optical fiber has at least one or more core portions and a clad portion peripherally around the core portions, and the clad portion is provided with an area for optical axis adjustment which is different in refractive index from the clad portion at a position apart from the core portions so that wavelength dispersion characteristics of the optical fiber are not substantially changed.
