PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pressure-sensitive adhesive composition for polarizing films which does not cause peelings and white spots in a heat shock test and is excellent in reworkablity, recyclability and durability. SOLUTION: The pressure-sensitive adhesive composition for polarizing films contains, as the indispensable ingredients, (A) a large molecular weight acrylic polymer containing (a<SB>1</SB>) a repeating unit involving a carboxy group in the molecule and having a weight average molecular weight (Mw<SB>A</SB>) of not less than 800,000 and a glass transition temperature (Tg<SB>A</SB>) of not higher than -40°C; (B) a low molecular weight acrylic polymer having a weight average molecular weight (Mw<SB>B</SB>) of less than 800,000 and a glass transition temperature (Tg<SB>B</SB>) of not lower than -40°C; and (C) a multifunctional compound containing not less than 2 functional groups capable of reacting with a carboxy group to form a crosslinked structure. The carboxy group contained in repeating unit (a<SB>1</SB>) is positioned at the end of the pendant side chain of repeating unit (a<SB>1</SB>) and the number of carbon atoms contained in the pendant side chain is not less than 4.
