PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printing apparatus having a squeegee with a long approach. SOLUTION: The printing apparatus is equipped with a pair of clamping pieces 31a and 31b for pinching a substrate W from both sides and holding it, pressing means 41a and 41b which can be arranged on the substrate when the substrate is held by the clamping pieces, a stencil 51 arranged on the substrate held by a pair of the clamping pieces 31a and 31b under a condition that the pressing means 41a and 41b are retreated sideways from the substrate, and the squeegee 61 for spreading a paste S on the stencil and applying it on the substrate W by sliding it on the stencil.
