PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a side guide in a coiling device of steel sheet production equipment where a metal strip hardly having coiling tension after shearing by a shearing apparatus can be guided without the generation of the flaws in the edge of the metal strip and the turbulence of coiling in a coil. SOLUTION: The space between a deflector roll 7 installed between a coiling device 13 and a shearing device 2, and the shearing device 2 is provided with a pair of small-sized longitudinal rolls 15 so as to be freely expansible/shrinkable in the width direction of a strip 1, and, in a meantime from the point of the time at which the coiling tension of the strip 1 is almost made zero by shearing till the passage of the tail edge of the strip through the small-sized longitudinal rolls 15, the strip 1 is guided by the small-sized longitudinal rolls 15.
