PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and a method for cleaning an ink jet head capable of maintaining the ink jet head without damage. SOLUTION: The system for cleaning an ink jet head is comprised of a solvent injection device injecting solvent on the undersurface of the ink jet head, a sucking device separated from the solvent injection device at a prescribed interval and sucking stain on the undersurface of the ink jet head which is resolved by the solvent injection device and an air injection device separated from the sucking device at a prescribed interval and injecting air.
