An engine (3) is mounted at the front of a vehicle and a transmission (4) is mounted at the rear of the vehicle, and the two are drivably connected by a shaft (6). The engine (3) and the shaft (6) are connected via an engine clutch (8), and the transmission (4) and the shaft (6) are constantly connected. A motor (7) is connected to that part of the shaft (6) that is near the engine. In traveling using electricity, the clutch (8) is released, a brake (9) is applied, and the transmission (4) set to a state where a forward gear stage is selected. In hybrid traveling, the clutch (8) and the brake (9) are engaged and the traveling is made by outputs from the motor (7) and engine (3). Since the engine (3) and the transmission (4) are separated to the front and rear, weight balance between the front and rear is good. Because the motor (7) functions as mass rotating with the engine (3) and the shaft (6) acts as a torsion spring, the engine speed at which a peak torsional resonance frequency caused by an engine torque variation occurs can be brought to the outside of a normal rotation range. |
