<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a green pigment composition for a color filter, and the color filter which is superior in contrast of a coating film when the green pigment composition is used for a green pixel portion. <P>SOLUTION: The green pigment composition for the color filter is characterized by containing a metal halide phthalocyanine and a copolymer of methyl methacrylate and another copolymerizable ethylenically unsaturated monomer as an acrylic resin, and having 0.01-0.1 μm average particle size of primary particles and 1-2 aspect ratio of the primary particles. The green pigment composition for the color filter contains the green pigment composition and a yellow pigment.
