PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an alkaline battery in which power generating substance can be increased by making a separator thin, growth of a crystal of zinc oxide due to discharge penetrating through the separator is prevented, and discharge performance is collectively improved. SOLUTION: The alkaline battery 10 has a negative electrode gel 23 containing zinc or zinc alloy as a negative electrode active material opposed to a positive electrode active material 21 interposing a separator 22.
