PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording apparatus capable of executing a recording with a higher accuracy while decrease in an executing speed of the recording is made as small as possible. SOLUTION: When a paper is fed at a high speed (Step S1: Yes), the tip in the transferring direction of a recording paper P fed is detected by a PW sensor 14 (Step S14), to judge whether a recording starting position is specified (Step S15). When the recording starting position can be specified (Step S15: Yes), the recording paper P is transferred to the recording starting position as much as possible (Step S16). When the recording starting position can not be specified (Step S15: No), the recording paper P is transferred to a position where the width of the paper can be measured by the PW sensor 14 (Step S17), and at least either one of both side ends of the recording paper P is detected by the PW sensor 14 (Step S18).
