A vehicle axle-and--wheel unit has a cylindrical bush, whose diameter is approximately midwaybetween that of the axle and of the wheels; arranged on the axle between the wheels so as to be capable of rolling, either by being fast with a rotating axle or freely rotatable about the axle. The bush may consist of two half cylinders. secured to the axle by means of clamps such as metal straps fitting in grooves in the bush. The unit is intended to be fitted to a farm cart or the like so that the bush prevents excessive sinking of the wheels into the ground and, by rolling on the ground, avoids soil erosion.</p> |
