A light emitting display device and a driving method thereof are provided to make the speed of writing current in a data line fast by increasing the amount of data current, and to prevent flicker by shortening non-emission periods of a light emitting element by making the light emitting element emit light at least two times during one frame. A light emitting display device includes a pixel unit(100) having plural pixels(110) and displaying an image; a scan driving unit(300) for transferring a scan signal and an emission control signal to the pixel unit; and a data driving unit(200) for transferring data current to the pixel unit. The pixel emits light correspondingly to the data current selected by the scan signal, has an emission period in which the pixel emits light at least twice during one frame, and displays a gray scale lower than the gray scale value of the data current.
