PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic apparatus which is capable of surely preventing a user who has worked in an exclusive mode using a removable medium, from forgetting to take out the removable medium. SOLUTION: When the exclusive mode will be switched to a normal mode, it is detected whether an available removable medium is connected to the apparatus or not, and switching to the normal mode is inhibited in response to detection of an available removable medium. Alternatively, after the exclusive mode is switched to the normal mode, it is detected whether an available removable medium is connected to the apparatus or not, and operations in the normal mode from an operation part are inhibited in response to detection of an available removable medium. Thus, though the user forgets to take out the removable medium when switching the exclusive mode to the normal mode after use in the exclusive mode, switching to the normal mode or operations in the normal mode are inhibited to be able to make the user aware that the removable medium is left.
