PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multi-camera supervisory system as an image processing apparatus that carries out image processing for privacy protection of individuals in matching with a strata of customers of a shop wherein the system is installed and reduces or revises personal privacy information while keeping a state of discriminating the identity of people among a plurality of cameras so as to protect the privacy of the individuals.

SOLUTION: The image processing apparatus for processing and outputting an image obtained from an imaging apparatus in order to solve the task above is characterized in to include: a means for detecting people from the image; a means for storing characteristic information as a database; a means for extracting a characteristic on the basis of the people detected from the means above and the database; a means for processing a characteristic amount extracted from the means above in the stored characteristic information; and a means for generating an output image on the basis of the processed characteristic.
