<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lighting system that allows suppression of an increase in size and that generates light having little color irregularity with a simple structure, and also to provide a liquid crystal display device having the lighting system. <P>SOLUTION: The lighting system of the embodiment comprises: a nearly cylinder-shaped reflecting plate 2 having a notch part along the length thereof; a first LED 3, a second LED 4 and a third LED 5 that emit light of R, G and B colors, respectively; and a rod-shaped condenser lens 1 provided in the notch part of the reflecting plate 2. The first LED 3, the second LED 4 and the third LED 5 are disposed inside the reflecting plate 2 toward the center of the circle, the LEDs being arranged nearly linearly for each color along the length of the cylinder. Due to such a configuration, light beams of R, G and B colors emitted from the respective LEDs are repeatedly reflected by the reflecting plate 2 and finally condensed by the condenser lens 2 to be sent to a light guide plate 8. Thus, the light beams of the respective colors are fully mixed while being repeatedly reflected by the reflecting plate 2, and white light with little color irregularity is obtained. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
