<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light and thin planer illumination light source, having improved planar light guiding action although adopting a light guide-less structure, preventing generation of lighting spot and unevenness in chromaticity, having high brightness, uniform light emission, and high color mixing properties with proper balance, with small power consumption. <P>SOLUTION: The planar illumination light source has one or more of point light sources 26, arranged on a holding base plate and a cylindrical lens covering the light observation side of the point light sources. The cylindrical lens has a concave lens function 22 in the vertical direction (y-direction) with respect to the holding base plate, and a convex lens function 24 at least in the direction of a part of horizontal direction (x-direction). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
