<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an article information retrieval system capable of easily specifying information on an article represented by a picture, an image, a video, or the like. <P>SOLUTION: Each image displayed and reproduced by an image reproduction device 60 is recorded in an image database 40 along with the image ID. The information of each article displayed in each image is associated with the image ID and recorded in an article database 50. In this state, the display image of the image reproduction device 60 is photographed by a photography means of a terminal device 10, and a photographed image is obtained. The terminal device 10 transmits the obtained photography image to a processing server 30 through a network 20. The processing server 30 searches the image database 40 using the photography image, detects a similar image and obtains its image ID. Furthermore, it obtains the article information from the article database 50 using the image ID.
