PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an end fixing structure for the FRP rod which is served as a polymer insulator tension member, etc. and could hardly cause the fatigue failure. SOLUTION: In the end fixing structure for the FRP rod 3 in which its end 3a is inserted into a cylindrical metal fitting 1 and the cylindrical metal fitting 1 is compressed in a radial direction, a groove 2 is provided parallel to the inner surface of the cylindrical metal fitting 1 in an axial direction. The end fixing structure for the FRP rod 3 of this invention provides a groove 2 in an axial direction parallel to the inner surface of the cylindrical metal fitting 1 into which the end 3a on the FRP rod 3 is inserted, thus preventing the end on the FRP rod 3 from being twisted inside the cylindrical metal fitting 1. Therefore, this can avoid any degradation in the mechanical strength of the FRP rod 3 which could be accompanied by a twisting of the polymer insulator. In addition, since the groove 2 is provided on the inner surface of the cylindrical metal fitting 1, a contact area between the inner surface of the cylindrical metal fitting 1 and the FRP rod 3 is increased, thereby improving a connection strength between the cylindrical metal fitting 1 and the FRP rod 3.
