PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing nanoparticles capable of producing a large quantity of nanoparticles having high crystallinity, high purity, and excellent monodispersivity at a low cost. SOLUTION: The method for producing nanoparticles comprises subjecting polymer particles B containing particle sources A to heat-treatment and/or chemical reaction to produce nuclei of nanoparticles resulting from the particle sources A and heat-treating the nuclei in a region surrounded by the polymer particles B. Alternatively, the method for producing nanoparticles comprises mixing polymer particles B containing particle sources A with substances C which inhibit the polymer particles B from making contact with each other, subjecting the mixture to heat-treatment and/or chemical reaction to produce nuclei of nanoparticles resulting from the particle sources A and heat-treating the nuclei in a region surrounded by the polymer particles B.
