PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sliding door of excellent design without impairing appearance when used in a general house or apartment house. SOLUTION: This sliding door device 1 comprises a sliding door 2 disposed at an entrance; a traveling rail 3 placing sash rollers 5 fitted to the upper part of the sliding door 2 to hang the sliding door 2; and a sliding door frame member 4 for disposing the traveling rail 3. An upper frame 41 of the sliding door frame member 4 is formed as a member of approximately U-shaped cross section opened on the lower side, and a locking member 8 for locking the traveling rail 3 is disposed at the door end side part of the sliding door frame member 4, while a lifting member 7 for vertically moving the door tip of the traveling rail 3 toward the inside and outside of the upper frame 41 is disposed on the door tip side of the sliding door frame member 4.
