A second pipe's (4) inlet links to a first pipe's (2) outlet. The second pipe's wall is heated by direct heat exchange with a flow of gas (7) directed through a ring pipe (6) around the second pipe. A refrigerated fluid passes in the second pipe. A gas with poor heat conductivity is used as the flow of gas for direct heat exchange. An independent claim is also included for a device for carrying away a refrigerated fluid via pipework.
