<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the high pressure wave generating action, while particularly reducing the size, by enhancing volumetric efficiency by generating a high pressure wave by a pulse generator incorporated into an intake device of a multi-cylinder engine. <P>SOLUTION: This intake device has the pulse generator 50 for generating the high pressure wave. This pulse generator 50 has a rotary valve 51 built in a surge tank 42. In the surge tank 42, an opening position on the upstream end of respective intake pipes of two cylinders adjacent in combustion order, is arranged by mutually shifting a phase in the peripheral direction by a turning angle of 1/2 of a crank angle corresponding to a phase difference of an intake stroke of both cylinders, and a peripheral directional rangeαof a surge tank inner wall existing between both openings is set so as to become larger than a peripheral directional rangeθof one opening. The rotary valve 51 rotates in 1/2 rotation of a crankshaft in the predetermined rotational direction, and opens and closes an upstream end opening of the two intake pipes by one opened of this rotary valve 51. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT</p> |
