PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a prism using a polarizer free of a fault such as optical uniformity. SOLUTION: The prism uses the polarizer made of single crystal of lithium tetraborate of≤5×10<SP>-5</SP>in grating variation in crystal,≤10<SP>2</SP>/cm<SP>2</SP>in etching pit density, and≤10<SP>-5</SP>in refractive index variation, the polarizer being processed into such a shape that a light incidence surface tilts at an angle of 0°C to the bottom of the single crystal of lithium tetraborate and a light projection surface tilts at 60±0.5°to the bottom orthogonal to the light incidence surface.
