PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To highly accurately and simply measure deforming stress at various temperatures when high-speed deformation characteristics of a material, which are criteria of evaluation in collision simulation and collision safety design, are to be measured. SOLUTION: This apparatus comprises a fastening part 2 for fixing a round-bar-like or plate-like specimen 1; a load detection part 3 for measuring tensile loads or compressive loads; a supporting mechanism 4 for supporting the fastening part; and a movable part 5 for providing the specimen 1 with tensile or compressive loads. The fastening part 2 and the load detection part 3 are integrated, and the load detection part 3 is mounted to the side of the supporting mechanism 4 by a fixing part 8 of the specimen 1 and the fastening part 2. The apparatus satisfies (a cross-sectional area of the fastening part 2 in the fixing part 8)≤(a cross-sectional area of the fastening part 2 in the load detection part 3)≤(a cross-sectional area of the supporting mechanism 4), is provided with a mechanism 6 for making temperature at test variable, and highly accurately measures tensile or compressive loads in a wide range of strain velocities including high-speed deformations.
