PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inorganic hollow self-standing thin membrane comprising porous organo-pillared clay and having a large surface area. SOLUTION: A fine space accumulated inorganic membrane is a self-standing structure in which micro fine pores capable of accommodating molecules are accumulated and held, and is characterized in that it is formed from interlayer gaps of a layered inorganic compound and an ionic organic substance holding the gaps, and the surface area of the outer surface of the inorganic membrane is≥1 cm<SP>2</SP>. The method for producing the membrane and separating or adsorbing members are also provided. The self-standing fine space accumulated inorganic membrane having a large surface area is excellent in formability into a desired form, and adsorption and separation properties of atoms, molecules or the like.
