PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper feeding device, in which installation of a paper feeding cassette, and whether or not paper exists can be precisely detected using a single detecting sensor. SOLUTION: This paper feeding device 10 for feeding paper to an image forming part is used with an image forming device having an image forming part for forming images on paper. The paper feeding device comprises a paper feeding cassette 13 on which paper is loaded to be slided to a paper feeding device main body 12 to be detachably attached to the paper feeding device main body, a paper feeding roller 15 provided on the paper feeding device main body to feed the paper loaded on the paper feeding cassette toward the image forming part, a detecting sensor 21 disposed upstream of the paper in the paper feeding direction, a dog 22 coaxially engaged with a rotation shaft of the paper feeding roller with clearance, and extended upstream of the paper in the paper feeding direction so as to rotate relatively to the detecting sensor in accordance with attachment/detachment of the paper feeding cassette to the paper feeding device main body, and a hole part 25 to rotate the dog relatively to the detecting sensor depending on whether or not recording paper exists. Attachment/detachment of the paper feeding cassette to the paper feeding device main body and whether or not paper exists are detected by detecting the dog by means of the detecting sensor in accordance with rotation of the dog.
