PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an article inspecting device capable of efficiently treating an article to be inspected by even one operator by enabling the system to convey article to be the inspected in an arbitrary direction of the article to be inspected and conduct the suitable selection/setting of a stopped position at the time of occurrence of faults. SOLUTION: The article inspecting device comprises a conveyer transport section 10 that conveys the article to be inspected W by a conveyer transport path 10a, an inspection head 5 that inspects the article to be inspected W in a predetermined inspection spacing area 2 to output a signal of the results, and a transport controlling means that controls a transport state of the section 10 according to a signal of the result, wherein the transport controlling means has the section 10 transport the article to be inspected W in a conveyer transport path 10a different from a predetermined transport destination P1 and up to an arbitrary separation position P2 outside the area 2 according to a signal of the second result different from that of an ordinary inspection result of the article to be inspected W, while it has the section 10 transport the article to be inspected W up to the predetermined transport destination P1 according to a signal of the first result which is the normal inspection result of the article to be inspected W.
