An endoscope (1) comprising an elongated inserting portion (7) being inserted into an object, a light source section (3) emitting laser light, a power supply unit (8) for supplying power to the light source section (3), a housing section (10) arranged with the power supply unit (8), an intermediate section (11) connecting the housing section (10) and the inserting portion (7), a light guide (5) provided at the inserting portion (7) and guiding laser light emitted from the light source section (3), and a phosphor (6) provided at the distal end of the inserting portion (7) and emitting illumination light by being excited with laser light guided through the light guide (5).
