The device has a sliding unit (3) and a securing unit (4) for locking of a window or hatch cover or door to a window frame in a closed position of the window. The securing unit acts as a locking unit transverse to a longitudinal direction of movement of the hatch cover or the door. The securing unit is brought into engagement or outside engagement with a recess (6) in the frame by direct or indirect coupling. The locking device is hinged at a side of the window frame. The hatch cover or the door is movably supported on a longitudinal support that is provided on an inner side of the window, where the hatch cover or the door is found on a sliding unit side that lies opposite to a swivel axis (13).
