The spindle gearbox has cone or worm toothing and a spur gear stage (4) that allows the end of a drive shaft (2) to be arranged very close to an output shaft in the axial direction. The pinion of the spur gear stage is mounted on the output shaft and the driven wheel of the spur gear stage is directly connected to the conical pinion or worm shaft. The drive shaft is configured to enable its simultaneous use as a through drive to a further spindle. It has an overload coupling between the output shaft and the output wheel.
